Get Your Free Credit Report
We’ve
all seen the TV ads about getting your free credit score and credit
report! If you’ve ever logged into one of these sites the first
thing they want you to do is sign up to their “free program”
before giving you anything! The first line on one website is “See
Your 3 Credit Reports and FICO® Scores* for just $1!”. Even the
three credit bureaus themselves want you to sign up or they won’t
give you squat!
The
truth is that you really need to see your credit report before you
even care about what your score is!
The
Federal laws in the US say that you are entitled to one free credit
report each year from all three credit agencies! There is a way you
can do this online, but I would recommend that you download a pdf file from the
Federal Trade Commission website, fill it out, and mail it to the
address on the form! Be Sure to check all three boxes at the bottom
of the form to get a complete printed credit report from all three
agencies at zero cost! The only thing it will cost you is one stamp
to mail the form!
